Going over on Wednesday for the United match.

Don't fly out until Friday early afternoon though so hoping to get a bit of sight-seeing in.

Anybody been before and/or have any recommendations on what we should be heading for?

Christ trackside I'm only seeing this now. I was over myself for the game, tues to thurs. Great city. Savage stadium.

Was there myself for a CL game, no issues with locals and stadium well connected to stadium

Don't go bullfighting  but Retiro park and the Royal palace well worth viewing

Been a few times

The buzz on the streets at all hours is terrific. The tapas bars are superb. Doesn't have as many conventional sights as Barca perhaps but for me it has a better vibe.

And then theres the art. One of the worlds greatest cities for colelctions Guernica is a absolute must see and the Thysson collection is comprehensive as you can get for 20th century pieces (although a shade conservative perhaps)

And the Bernabau is the finest stadium I have been to.

If you havent been to Rome Roddy, give yourself plenty of time. There is something to see around every corner. The area around spanish steps is perhaps my favourite and the colluseum is breathtaking The vatican has to be seen i suppose but i found it a bit cold and charm free

Was brought on a 4 day jolly to Madrid which involved golf and El Classico. Cannot remember much except being woken up on a park bench by cleaners at 6:30 in the morning. A fantastic city in which to party but you obviously need to pace yourself.....it's like someone rings a bell at midnight and all the party animals, hookers and drug dealers appear up from the gutters..

Did you miss your tee time?

No spent a half an hour driving around Madrid looking for the Hotel with the big fountain in front of it (the nearly all have) collected clubs, two bottles of lucosade and went to the course and won the money!;)

bloody well make sure I have a good start from you if we ever play old boy
