Making the weight

We've all read and heard abouth the lengths jockeys will go to to make the weight however I've never come across this before. And am I mistaken or did he used to ride over here?

How did spraying his tongue make him lose weight in half an hour from weighing out to weighing in?

Domestic violence, mental breakdowns and suicides due to keeping your weight down? Where on earth is the duty of care in Australia to these guys? Or, where are the jockeys' brains, that they don't ditch the job before it gets to those stages, and petition to be retrained? Doesn't Oz have something similar to JETS?
