I am surprised he is not odds on for todays grade race at Naas.

i think he should dominate this field easily.

I've backed Twinlight Suny

Mallowney has 17 lengths to make up on T and has only 5lb pull in the weights..Mallowney wins hcaps but when stepping out of them doesn't seem to win

I have Mallowney 10 pounds in front of Twinlight who is an unreliable type.
Mallowney ahs his ground and goes well in the course.
I will be very surprised if he is beaten today.

Are they going to supplement him? It seems mental not to.

Is the horse not dependent on cut in the ground? Travels really well in the race, doesn't always find but was very good today.

Good call. Was that a PB today on your figures?

Would he need to come off the bridle to win the Champion Chase? Today's run must put him at around 165.

Following Mallowney's win, Doyle reported "I was hoping he'd do that, and it was very similar to the way he won the Dan Moore. Davy thinks he's getting more relaxed.

"We'll stick to our plan, and he'll probably go to Fairyhouse for the Normans Grove and Punchestown (Champion Chase) after that. He's relaxing earlier in his races and Davy seems to have the key to him.

I'd be wary of going overboard about that form. Twinlight is routinely miles below his best whenever he goes left-handed, and Heavy ground will have exaggerated the winner's superiority.

I just think he'd be a fun addition to the race. I conpletely agree that this is no longer a soft race. Anyone who's backing Champagne Fever at current prices is really reaching.

Maybe he's overcome whatever it was that was preventing him showing his form LH earlier in his career. Take out his two most recent runs/wins, and his LH Strike-Rate was under 15%, but it's a fair enough to challenge.

He is inconsistent though, and the form needs treating with caution, imo.

Today 168+
previous race he posted a 170+

I think he is a very serious horse and a good jumper

He was a very good hurdler and as a chaser I think they have discovered is better not be wait in the tail of the field and use his jumping running more prominently.

If I were the owner I would have run himin the Champion Chase, especially on soft ground,
the cheltenham race had look a weak edition this year a month ago but not so much after Sire De Grugy and with Sprinter Sacre likely to improve a ton for the run.

Wouldn't it be good if Sprinter Sacre dotted up and took him on in Punchestown. We'd get a price. . .

No chance.

He was a 140 hurdler, and is operating in an era where there is an absolute dearth of decent Irish 2m chasers. He would get eaten alive in a spring-ground Grade 1, imo.

Absolutely no chance if they sent him over for the CC. I'd be making hay and mopping up as many of these G2/3's in bad ground as possible.
