A man has been shot dead by the police on the outskirts of Hull.
Humberside Police say they were called to the A63 near Welton after a report of a van driving the wrong way down the eastbound carriageway.
After what they say was an "incident" one man was shot first with baton rounds and then a firearm.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 0730 GMT on Tuesday. The Independent Police Complaints Authority is to conduct an investigation.
The A63 is closed in both directions and will stay closed until at least lunchtime, police say.
