Looking at today's entries in Wexford - there are two potentially very good mares entered up

Forge Meadow for Jessie and Crack Tiepy

Throw in the very top class Annie and VVM and a host of other Mullins mares

Henderson's Kotikova is apparently a bit special too

Has there ever been a time with so many good mares about?

I've taken Crack Tiepy on today, with John Neilan's Hunters Call.

Mullins generally knows what he is doing of course, but she is a 1/2 chance, yet was beaten in both starts over Hurdles in France; her only win in 8 Rules outings to-date, coming over fences in the Provinces over 2m5f in heavy ground. Whilst she gets all the concessions today, she has to be taken-on at that price, and the 8/1 available about Hunters Call looks fair enough to me, given he has won both a Bumper and a Maiden Hurdle (over inadequate 2m), in his four Rules starts.

VVM has such an attractive mark over fences, maybe one day they will have the character to run her in something decent

I don't know an awful lot about Crack Tiepy today but she would be around evens if she was trained elsewhere

Miss de Champdoux, La Segnora, Formosa Joana Has, De Bon Coeur, Hippomene are all fillies/mares who've beaten the geldings in the top races in France in recent years and going back a bit further Grivette & Princesse d'Anjou.

I'm sure many slip through the net in the UK/Ireland as there has been a limited program for them in the past so breeders don't register them.

That Airlie Beach is a somewhat useful mare too :ninja:
As with most things, Mr Mullins was well ahead of the game in anticipating the improved mares programme and recognising that the 7lb mares allowance is excessive. For the last year or so, I've concentrated on mares because of this and the potential broodmare value.
Airlie Beach was going to be entered in the Monksfield on Sunday but they've decided to concentrate on the Royal Bond. I understand the logic that she's already won a G3 so the percentage bet is to go for a G1, especially with the generous mares allowance but I'm still to be convinced that she's capable of her best form over 2 miles. However, in Willie we trust so fingers crossed.

Delighted for Joe Doyle to have a good horse again...a great man to talk horses with you in his pub in Ballon. He co-owned the good chaser Central House with John Kenny a few years back.

The way the programme book is now, there's not much in the way of eligible races for a winner of one so your hand is kind of forced. Don't think her jumping will be sharp enough over 2m against the geldings but hope she does them proud. She will definitely be winning more races this season.

Glens harmony in the last at Navan today, think she is high high class and have had a good bet. Related to glens melody.

Winner looks very good as you say, strange run from the mullins mare, outpaced when they turned in and ran on again. Wont be giving up on her.
