Was just thinking about Mark Johnstons success rate this year with 2year olds, however the stats across the range are quite interesting

The 2 year olds are obviously the standout, with a quarter of the season left already on 74 (with 7 FTO) wins from 336 (compared to 43 from 303 the full 2014 season). But a wholescale improvement across the yard is percieved at first glance across the range when looking at the £ stake numbers, however is pretty much on a par with last year when looking at the %ages (a few high odds Dante, GG and RA winners spring to mind probably to explain the level stakes improvements). All bearing in mind we've got more turf and half a season of AW racing to come.

What do we put this down to, I tried looking and found an interesting article, maybe from one of us on here, indicating 2014 performances for 2 year olds with pointers at future 2015 good/bad/uglies

Nothing in there suggesting there was something to watch for (apart from a possible impending Karl Burke wave !).

Also is this a curse for him next year, with most of them handicapping 2yo winners handicap can become a millstone around ther necks ?

Just interested if anyone has any thoughts on this.

While you'll almost certainly end up being right about the majority ending up handicapping if for no other reason than law of averages/the pyramid structure of racing, I saw a recent interview with him - possibly at Goodwood? - where he stated that there has been a conscious attempt to get a better class of 2yo into the yard, so there may be more dipping their toes in Group race waters next year...at least at first.
