Maurice is alive and well, although I think the forum should be told that he's just done three months in the pokey for distilling illicit whisky and selling it cheaply in Cumbernauld. He pleaded that it was a community service for those forced to live in the nightmare architecture of the 1960s New Brutalists, which would've swung a 'not proven', had he not then taken advantage of a bit of grandstanding to say how he'd maximized the money with a 'chunky wedge' on KAUTO STAR.
