May Day Riots/Protests

Unaware we were to be invaded, I'd made plans to go to Offham, just outside Lewes, for lunch with friends today. They called to say that 'huge riots' were predicted and that the Starbucks, just down the road from me, might be attacked. I'm only a few minutes' walk from the seafront, and didn't hear or see a thing! We had a load of police on the streets on Saturday morning, for the Children's Parade, which kicks off May's month-long Brighton Festival, and it was very noisy for hours. This lot must've confined themselves to just the seafront.

Hey-ho, Brighton's seen it all before - for example, when the Mods and Rockers used to come down on weekends specifically to knock seven bells out of each other. Old photos from the 1960s show them beaning each other with deck-chairs, before biking back to their home counties, well satisfied with a good old ding-dong.
