Ok, saddo that I am I am watching Good Morning with Fern and Phillip. Melvyn Bragg has recently interviewed George Michael in Madrid, who evidently confesses all. To be shown on ITV soon.

George evidently confesses to taking vast amounts of cannabis, to falling asleep at the wheel of the car after hitting a parked car and to gay cruising.

Melvyn is on the Good Morning show basically defending him, saying what a nice bloke he is, how talented he is and that he can see nothing wrong with him taking cannabis (legal in Madrid) and there were worse things he could be doing.

I thought it was irresponsible of Melvyn to appear on a chat show basically defending what George Michael has done including he could see nothing wrong with falling asleep at the wheel of a car. The police were unable to trace any drugs when he was taken to the station. Basically MB was saying that alcohol is far worse than cannabis - as people go out and kill each other if they drink to excess.

Fern frequently seemed quite shocked by some of his comments regarding George's drug taking.

Evidently, there is a new drug out in the club scene (read on a website) called something like GBL that causes tiredness as a side effect and cannot be detected as there is currently no test for it. I wonder.....

Is gay cruising inherently worse (if either deserves such a pejorative term) than straight cruising? Are the tens of thousands of young or youngish people getting totally bladdered on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights worse than George Michael toking up - something which a number of my friends still do, even at their advanced age? There's so much sanctimonious nonsense talked about people involved in public life enjoying the same pleasures as vast swathes of the nameless public. It's hypocritical and it's pointless, and if we want role models, it ought to be our parents and teachers setting the standards, not ageing pop stars!

(I've stopped her here, or she'll be at it all day. Ed.)

  Fair enough - truth is, I can't remember ANY of it! (And no, I wasn't smoking strange substances, either.)

Harsh words indeed! As far as I'm concerned, he can do whatever he pleases as long as nobody gets hurt. So whatever he's doing that causes him to fall asleep at the wheel should stop. I couldn't care less that he enjoys a joint or that he goes out looking for a bit of fun on a Friday night.

Did I mention that I'm going to see him in concert on December 2nd? :D :D :D

If he falls asleep at the wheel of his parked car and he has also had a few drinks, I hope for his sake that someone wakes him up before he go goes....

Not exactly - in Spain, drug possession in reasonable quantities is not a penal issue, but an administrative one. In other words you get a fine, not a jail sentence. This means that the justice system can wash its hands of the petty cases and concentrate on more serious (and profitable) smuggling charges.

Jesus - don't tell Suny that drugs are (partially) legal in his home down. I can't imagine he would be too pleased with these Pinko laws.

It was supposed to be shown last night and I was asked by my girlfirend to record it but I got the one with Sue Townsend. Did my video record on Sunday instead of last night or was the George Michael one postponed?

Did she not tell you what time it was on? - or perhaps she did in a careless whisper :D

Then again I agree with Euro

George Michael is cack .

It was on after the Chelsea game. I couldn't tell you what it was about as I was up in the corner of the ceiling talking to the spiders.

After reading this thread I can honestly say I am deeply shocked and stunned.

PDJ has a girlfriend?!?!?!

:what:

Why does anyone listen to George Michael ? He is , was and always has been utter shite

Cack AND shite, Ardross? Y'know, I'm getting the sense, somehow, that you don't awfully like his work...

Is that it, Phil? I remember when you used to be witty and original, funny even. Now you are predictable and that is no fun at all. Put your back into it will you?

Yes, but PDJ, those were the days when you used to burst out crying and create "open letters" on the forum to share your disgust with everyone due to something I had, apparently, offended you wth.
