Got an email from Plumpton today to say that Michael Moloney will be taking over as financial controller from the current incumbent, who's retiring at the end of the month. Thank goodness there'll be someone with a good handle on racing, as Michael's the son of Galway's manager and has been the financial controller of the Carlton Hotel in Galway city, as well as occasional assistant for some years to his Pa.
Usually, racing's been infested by accountancy types without the slightest link to or interest in racing, so this will be a refreshing change. Look forward to meeting him when racing kicks off there next month.
