Microsoft Office

You should be able to get whichever Office package is used in your school for free as part of the licence. That's how I get it.

Paul. If you haven't got the Microsoft versions already, there is a pretty good freeware equivalent called Open Office that you can download through the internet.

I've jusy bought Microsoft Office 2007 & its taking a bit of getting used to :shy: I think we paid £59.99 for it

With the other programs, will existing files and spreadsheets load ok? Some are very important, particularly the spreadsheets.

Depends on the complexity of the spreadsheets. Most Excel features are supported by Open Office.

Excel worksheets work fine with Open Office.

I was thinking though, if you were dead set on going for the MS version wouldn't you get a decent 'Teachers' discount ?

I might well be able to get it from school, I was just trying to be good and do some work in the holidays. Guess I'll have to watch Australia - Sri Lanka instead. Bah!

I didn't break up until the Wednesday when the rest of the country finished on the previous Friday. So I get tomorrow off too, thank God. Just finished painting the nursery and laying the stairs carpet. Time to watch cricket today and tomorrow as my reward :D
