What a weird place. It is like 28 Days Later around here. The place is deserted.

Raksha still lives here - don't be deceived by the apparent lack of people as you drive around - the city was designed that way - to keep padestrians and traffic seperate.

PS - I love it, loads of open spaces for dog walking, great shopping centres, and excellent transport links.

Very soulless city, mike has lived here for 6 months and reckons that it is really depressing

Here in the Bronx people used to fight to get in here it was a well sort after working mans place ...now they are ALL fighting to get out of here...what a load of arseholes they (council&housing associations) have sent here.........

Its like many things in life, its only a small minority of them that causes ALL the problems........ my next door neighbour's daughter had her car side window put in @ 6-15..this morning :o :o ..........by 3 hooded youths..........

hug the little fuckers

It really isn't as bad as that.

I don't live in MK, never have done, but I have lived within 15 miles of it since before it existed.

It is, in fact, just like anywhere else - there are good bits and there are bad bits. Planning-wise it was pretty well thought out - as Raksha says, it was designed to keep the pedestrians away from the traffic and the residential areas separate from busy roads and from the industrial estates. There are lots of green spaces and the amenities are pretty good, now - though it took a little while! It's a fairly affluent place and a lot of the industry is high tech. I have to say, though, that the best part of MK is one of the oldest - Stony Stratford. Oh - and the concrete cows are still going strong!

The roundabouts are fun! You can always tell a driver from Milton Keynes - they take roundabouts at twice the normal speed .. :D

Which is why it only takes 10 mins to get from one side of the city to the other...

I LOVE IT!!!

Milton Keynes couldn't come any higher than fourth in a poll of depressing places to live - as Bracknell, Sluff & Swindon would all rank higher!

I'd do anything to move back  DG is right, I spent the first 26 years of my life living there. Yes there are some complete shite holes in MK but there are some really nice parts and I much preferred living there than I do here in Faringdon. I may have miles and miles of beautiful countryside on my doorstep but it's totally inaccessible to me and Georgias pram. There are only two places where I can walk the dogs here, whereas in MK I was spoilt for choice. If I need some shopping I have to drive to either Wantage or Swindon. Every shop I could ever wish for was merely a few minutes away in MK.

Driving in MK is so easy and on the whole quick too, 60mph roads connecting everything. Parking isn't a problem either. I know people in MK moan about the public transport but having first hand experience of what it's like elsewhere they've never had it so good! Frequent buses and a handful of train stations.

I think it speaks volumes that the greatest supporters of MK here are those who have lived there.

Can I ask which area he lived in? Some of it really is dire and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

The Sanctuary club was there.
The best Raves of the 90's
Many a good night I had there ......I think.
