The daughter of Ihtiram has been retired, and sadly ran Last in a field of 14 at Caulfield yesterday. :(

It was a disappointing end, to what otherwise could only be described as a stellar career, highlighted by her win at Royal Ascot in 2007, and becoming the first sprinter in nearly 20 years to be Horse of the Year.

The 7yo mare was sent out favourite in yesterday's Listed The Heath over 5 1/2 furlongs. Unfortunately the once highly charismatic performer led, and hit a black spot, before failing to go on with it. She finished Last in the field of 14.

Its been a disappointing last 9 months for the mare, who ran unplaced in Hong Kong before failing first up at WFA level in Adelaide, where she could only manage 4th against her own sex.

Although I was never a fan, at her peak she was an excellent animal who could blow everyone's heart away. Just a shame she hasn't been able to reach those heights again.

Fingers crossed she can let down into a nice broodmare, and produce one as good as herself.

Confirmed in last night's viewing of "Thoroughbreds" on TVN, she has retired. The mare will be served by Darley's Exceed and Excel in the coming days.
