I don't know who Miss Milligan is, but I do have cause to remember her name.

Desperate, not for the first or last time, to increase my pathetically small betting bank, the last few pennies went on her no-doubt splendidly-futured Spiders Star, in the 3.00 at Catterick, the classy track near some barracks ....

Miss Milligan has been training for about 15 years and prior to that was most famous as the daughter of the owners of Hardy Lad, who won the 1986 Scottish GRand National among a hatful of other races.
