Can I recommend to anyone who comes across them the wines of Kim Crawford from NZ - excellent Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc .

Additionally, a dry German wine from M& S called Darting Estate Durkheimer Michelsberg Riesling at £5.99 excellent , dry ( unlike most German wine ) and very refreshing especially if you cannot face another galss of cheap Chardonnay

OK, for the cheapskates/jakies out there...

I got six bottles of Navarra tinto from Lidl a couple of weeks ago. £2.20 a bottle. Maybe it isn't the best vino of all time but I never claimed to be a connoisseur...

She won't have any left if she starts on the £2 Navarra - no wonder you are going off red wine mate ;)

Whats wrong with cheap Chardonnay? Apart from the fact that I drank about a gallon of the stuff last night and my head feels like a tumble dryer, it's very good value.

Well it depends if it is New World it can often have been "oaked " by dipping oak chips in it , be heavy, oily, high in alcohol and very dull

 - I for one do not like these 13.5 or 14 degrees of alcohol wine much they induce terrible headaches - often ,especially the reds , the alcohol contributes to a smoothness that means they are easy to drink ,you drink too much , hey presto hangover

No - of course not ! wouldn't be seen dead in Lidl ;)

As the tax on a bottle of wine is about £1.99 - how much is the original wine ?

So did I... but they told me it was their vegetables.......... The supply depot for the whole of Ireland is close by to here so it may be they supply most of Ireland. Not sure though.

Well I won't be trying them  I buy mine from a workers co-op greengrocers and wholefood shop near where I live and one of the members is a friend of mine, passionate about seasonal produce and he buys the veg

"Heavy, oily, high in alcohol, and very dull." Sounds kinda familiar - what was his name again, Ardross? I think I dated him once.
