Is there a bonus this year for winning the morebattle and then any race at Cheltenham.
The Shunter did it last year.
Metier heads the betting at kelso.
Do they pick up a penalty?
Paul Nicholls has an interesting one.

The prize fund for the this year's Morebattle Hurdle, will increase by 33% to £100,000. The additional bonus of £100,000, won last season by The Shunter, will be offered to the winner once again if they can follow up by winning any race at the Cheltenham Festival. The Nicholls horse is entered in the County Hurdle.

Yes. The Shunter would have carried a penalty but they cleverly went over fences. The field is ten times deeper this year.

I have a feeling they might step Metier up in trip for the Coral Cup.

Although taking in this race about 11 days before is a little off putting for me.

I guess with the bonus on offer they are going to give it a go. Especially if the ground comes up soft this Saturday.

It could be soft for Cheltenham yet too.

At least it's not as close to Cheletenham as the Imperial Cup is and could be done.

Martin Pipe's Blowing Wind won the Imperial Cup and then won the County Hurdle for 100k bonus
back in 98

Gaspara did it too. Bar Nicky's horse nothing has any chance or winning the bonus.

Kudos to Kelso for this initiative. Changing it to a handicap was a smart move. Making it valuable was doubly smart. The bonus has to be hugely tempting for plotters.

And now they've bumped the race value as well.

Last year I had Night Edition as a serious contender only for him to run up against The Shunter.

Ground forecast is good to soft.

Still no jockey booked for Metier according to the racing post.

I reckon they might swerve this race now and keep him fresh for Cheltenham.

What happened to Faivoir being plotted for something else?

A pound lower than his last win they'll not get a better chance to have him off than today:)

However Buvi will take all the beating but the weight consession of 1st5lbs has to give Cormier a fair chance.

I'll be having a RFC on them on the day.

Itchy Feet is interesting in the 2.40. Espoir might need this in prep for Aintree at a guess and the rest of them are very meh. IFeet plugged on well on horrible ground lto at Lingfield and 4/1 is too big,

I've done SEVERANCE 2lb out of the weights and Brian Hughes riding.this horse in my alerts.entered in the county but unlikely to get in even with a penalty.rated 125.
9/1

Good luck to all those "Henderson's a liar and a drunk" who backed Buvi already..Must be a certainty after his update on his chances...have some more on:lol:

I think I'll give my forecast a miss.

According to the RP the ground is soft according to te Clerk of the Course it's g/soft in places.

The worry with Kelso is not mud like most courses it's clay and it becomes very holding for horses looking for good ground especially when it's drying out.

Metier has plenty form on holding ground and looks a worth fav.

Nicky has more or less said Buvi has no chance today. You never know with a high class horse who can surprise even the best judges but I'm leaving him out.

Cormier was very impresive last time and even with this ground I cant see Severance reversing the placings.

Best long shot looks to be Saint Doroux who will be staying on when other have had enough.

1. Cormier
2. Metier
3 Saint Doroux

I've given the Moorebattle a swerve today. I'm not in a position to study the form at the moment and it doesn't strike me as the type of race to guess about. But Autumn Evening went a bit early last time and paid for it in the big DRF handicap hurdle and is probably a few lengths better than the bare result. That was probably the top Irish handicap hurdle form of the season and worth following but I can't recall my ratings for the race.

Well done with Cormier and saint doroux I was hoping severance might reverse the form but it wasnt to be.cracking price for Cormier..

Yes great advice from Tanlic there. I knew he was a good horse but I wasn't sure he'd be good enough today.

What an earth happend to Metier?
Surely he is better than that.

Cheers lads won more on the forecast than I did the win:).

Metier was conceding a lot of weight and he and Autumn Evening looked to be bogged down.

However Nico despite the weight made sure Buvi knew he had a race which will have done him the world of good.

Must have a great chance in the Aintree Hurdle if the run doesn't have any ill effects.

Re Metier I can't really fancy him for Cheltenham after today.

At least its made me look again at a few of the handicap races at the festival..

Fail to prepare and prepare to fail!!!

Surely the ground wasn't bad enough for Metier today? He only seems to go on heavy.

After Lingfield they said they might step him up in trip on better ground.

I am not sure how much credence we should give to that view now.

He is too one dimentional if he can only show his best on heavy ground over hurdles.

Prepare to fail!!

I do every year.

You are funny.

Bearing in mind the gambling commission will soon release their report and recommendations.

This cheltenham festival might be our final chance to bet like men, before we are all condemned to our local geriatric ward then limited to 2 quid max bet a race or 25 quid a week in total bets...

25 quid is not enough to wipe your arse with really...

I was reading about this earlier.i think it's a bit silly.im a geriatric and I often bet in £2s but I do more than £25 a week and dont regard that as problem gambling.
I think the problem gamblers are the casino and one arm bandit types and the type who bet on two flies going up a wall.
You see bets now and again on facebook to win major money and think what a stupid bet and I think they must have a problem.
But bookies like problem gamblers.look at Paul Merson who reckons hes lost a million well why dont bookies stop him gambling and a few years ago Wayne Rooney had problems.what makes me laugh is how do they back in 1000s when I couldnt get a £1 ew lucky 15 on.
69p ew limit.
