I've been to 11 of them I reckon, and the Taj Mahal and Macchu are significantly more inspiring than any of the others. There's a few in there which you'd have to categorise as darn right dissappointing, especially as seemingly better candidates exist in some of the same countries. I suppose it depends on whether you're looking for aesthetics, architectural/ engineering design, or a wider sense of dynamic impact and atmosphere/ experience.

I wouldn't even regard the Statue of Liberty as being the best in Manhattan yet alone the US. Uxmal is probably more dramatic than Chechen Itza. The precise name excapes me, (but its something like the Cathedral of the spilt blood or something) in Leningrad which I thought was better than St Basils, (which is actually really quite small). The Sagrada Famillia (I'm sure I've spelt that wrong) would be my Spanish nomination. Not sure about Blackpool Tower!!! I think Sacre Coeur is probably the more worthy. Petra borrows too much from a naturally stunning approach to be considered a man made wonder I'd have thought. It's a bit like citing the cafe on the top of Table Mountain then!!! Mind you I'd probably put the Lloyds building ahead of Stonehenge :P

So 21 nominations and yet only 7 can qualify. Now I don't know the format of this programme, but i'm prepared to guess that it involves assigning a celebrity holiday maker (sorry advocate) a chance to fly out there and do a 10-15 minute piece, the likes of which we must have enough archive material to make this exercise unnecessary given what the likes of Cliff Mitchell-Moore, Frank Bough and Anne Cregg et al must have accquired over the years. Somehow I suspect that it's going to involve a premium rate phone in poll too, in order to pay for the costs   cry .  I'd like to nominate Nicky Campbell to go and do a piece on the Great Central Citadel Helmand Province

5 + 3 = ?
