New bookies?

The first thing I noticed this morning when I opened up oddschecker was the number of apparently new bookies in the grid.

There has to be a concern about this given the way some high-profile outfits, some of which have proved to be cowboys, have hit the dust in recent months.

Redzone? Sport Pesa?? 10??? BetHard??? NoPlay??? SportNation???

What protection has been put in place for punters with these unknowns?
 
theres none really, they will all likely have the basic level of protection with the UKGC, which doesn't protect the customer at all.
FWIW I wouldn't use any of the bookies mentioned, with the possible exception of Bethard.
Also, Oddschecker is an affiliate site ran by Hestview (Skybet) for anyone that doesn't know. Anyone can be listed as long as they pay (a lot), and from my knowledge there are no checks done on the bookmakers by them.

When I advertise anyone on here its either because they have been round long enough to have proven they aren't a 'hit and run' outfit or that I have either knowledge of them or met them at some point and don't have any concerns about them. In 20 years the only time I've been wrong was the Fun88 carry on over Cheltenham a few years ago, which people did get paid from in the end.
 
had a redzone account for nearly 2 years and they seem a decent outfit not afraid to take a bet. people who's opinion i respect on twitter seem to think they're run by good guys too.
 
Red zone and Sportnation are the same outfit.
Apart from the 138, Fun,12 etc fiasco the only bookmaker who has attempted to steal funds from me in over 10 years has been 10Bet, who used to be fine but seem to have gone “rogue”.
I have an ongoing case with IBAS (as useful as a chocolate teapot) and will go small claims if needed as they won’t get away with it.

I wouldn't use them as their terms are a bit suspect, for example

we reserve the right to place a limit on the amount of funds that you will be able to withdraw in a single request at a level that we may determine at our sole discretion.

So basically you can withdraw your money as long as they decide you can, and they don't actually state limits, so in effect they could limit you to £10 a month, even if you had half a million sitting there.

Withdrawal limits also apply to progressive jackpots on the casino, so if you win £5 million you could end up getting say £20k a month. If it was a local jackpot that could bankrupt the company then that isn't too bad, but when its a network jackpot, the funds are paid to the casino by the network (Netent or Microgaming for example) for them to forward to you. So in that example, they would get £5 million in the bank and pay you as and when they feel like it.

Obviously most the time people putting small bets on aren't going to be affected by these rules, but I would hate to win a massive sum then be told it will take years to get paid.
