Please can someone help who understands these things! Just bought a new computer, and i've managed to install everything except my BT Broadband.

Whenever I put the CD in a message pops up saying "No administrator privileges" Now im using the Administrator account, have tried using a password, and opening another user account with no difference. I've googled and found other people hve had problems similar and its advised them to turn off UAC (The system is Vista) Does anyone have any ideas for how to do this? Or how I can get my internet working again. Im usless with this sort of thing so if you know simple instructions will be very very helpful!!

Launch MSCONFIG by typing it from the Run menu or the search box.

Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAP". Click on that line.

Press the Launch button.

A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.

Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

Note that you can re-enable UAC by selecting the "Enable UAP" line and then clicking on the Launch button.

Ive done this as UAP is a right pain in the arse.

I think it's pretty funny that Microsoft finally put a method in place to prevent programs from being able to access the entire system and then made it such a pain in the arse that most users turn it off asap.

Thanks for the comments & your help

After nealy 2 hours on to the man from India, i'm finally up and working wirelessly

I gave up trying myself after spending 2 hours going round in circles and as i'm so stubborn i didnt want to admit defeat but i'd had enough and it was driving him insane too as the wireless bit in the computer was interferring with the BT hub  but all fixed now!
