Hypothetically speaking, if you had a 6yo flat stayer rated 110, which has won at 2m, and you wanted to send it hurdling, who would you send it to to get the best out of him?

Preferably in either Lambourn or the south west/Gloucestershire.

I've been pretty impressed with Lawney Hill since she took out a full licence. Good facilities and both she and her husband were successful amateur jockeys.

Is money an object?

Do you want the horse to take performance enhancing drugs?

How highly do you rate trainer feedback?

Money is no object (it's not my horse before you ask).

Probably best to lay off the drugs.

Trainer feedback preferable, but results more important.

For me i t would have to be Toby Balding (...before he retired)... right up his street.

Do you enjoy the "social" side of racing?

Performance wise it would be Lawney Hill, her and Alan seem to get the best out of everything they have - though might be best to have them as a back-up for when it goes sour. Uses good jockeys in Bass and Coleman, one of whom can claim and imagine their daughter might go on to ride in amateur/lady rider races at some point (been impressed with what I've seen so far).

Personally I'd send it to Donald McCain - and then to Lawney Hill when it gets fed up with being in Cheshire.

Surely Peter Bowen must be top of the order. Leading the trainers race, thoroughly honest, yet more reasonably priced than any of the others

Not my horse sadly - just been asked for advice by the owner. He only has flat horses at present so it'll be a new experience having a jumper.

Agreed re McCain, but Cheshire is too far away from Bristol...

Lawney Hill's a good shout though - will suggest.

I had also thought about suggesting Tim Vaughan.

I am intrigued, as there aren't many 110 rated flat stayers.

Your friend does realise that only Willie Mullins can train Montjeu horses to win at Cheltenham?

Joking aside, the Lambourn trainers who might have experience of handling such a classy animal are:

Charlie Mann
Nicky Henderson
Noel Chance
Ollie Sherwood
Warren Greatrex

There are plusses and minues to all the above.

Peter Bowen might be a decent shout as Roddy suggests if you don't mind travelling to Wales.

In your area Nigel Twiston-Davies is there or if you fancy a smaller yard Michael Scudamore has done fairly well with very limited resources horse-wise thus far and is just up the road (I'm biased regarding the latter mind).

Obviously nothing to go on as this year will be their first season, but I would checkout Fergal O'Brien/Timmy Murphy. Fergal hs been very successful with Pointers so knows what he is doing.

Bar - the minuses to a couple of your selections is that the wrong horse might turn up on the day, or the right horse but full of a substance which the trainer didn't know was banned. But, those aside...

Henderson and Nicholls are dominating the game for an obvious reason, they are the best. If money is no object and there are aspirations of the horse winning Grade 1's. It has to be either/or imo.

I thought BennyB said best to lay off the drugs. You'd never be too sure with one at Henderson's yard, would you? Although I'm sure for the next offence he'll just be fined £1,000 and told to not keep doing it every two years, if he doesn't mind too awfully much, what-what.

Paul Nicholls or Nick Williams would be my choice down in that area, although it'd be hard to tell how well Nick Williams would get on with training an ex.flat horse I'd imagine, as all of his seem to be bought specifically for the jumping game.
