Two six-figures lots bought by Jonjo O'Neill took centre stage at DBS' post-racing Hennessy Sale at Newbury on Saturday night, at which only 49 per cent of horses changed hands.
His spending was headed by the £140,000 Master Malt, a son of Milan, who finished second behind Nicky Henderson's smart performer River Maigue on his only outing in a bumper at Ayr last season.
The four-year-old gelding is out of a sister to Philip Hobbs' useful hurdler Cockney Trucker.
O'Neill broke the six-figure mark for a second time when parting with £130,000 for Hawaii Five Nil.
The four-year-old, who won a Clonmel bumper two weeks ago for Eoin Doyle, is by one of Coolmore's latest acquisitions Gold Well and is out of a half-sister to Capricciosa, winner of the Cheveley and Moyglare Stud Stakes.
All told, 19 horses were listed as selling for a total of £790,000. The average rose 12.5 per cent to £41,579 while the median rose 19 per cent to £38,000. However, as so often at these boutique sales, trade was selective and only 49 per cent of horses were sold.
