I am convinced that Orbaan would have won the Golden Mile at Goodwood if he hadn't met interference so have been keeping an eye on the horse since. He had an OR at Goodwood of 101 and races off 90 - that's a mbig drop and there must be a hundred possibilities for the horse now. Today's Spring Cup at Newbury (3.35) offers one such.

If he wants to have a go at the Golden Mile again, he'll have to go up in the weights and so an early success this season would see to that. It's notoriously difficult reading trainers minds (impossible, actually) but it makes sense for him to be aimed at the big Goodwood race once more. That means, inevitably, that the OR need to rise.

So, a fairly simple reason for my decision to back it here. I've had 35/1 on BF and 25/1 on 365.

The horse is not uncomplicated, in that he will drop himself out at the start of races and this means that everything has to drop right for him to come and so there will always be guesswork in backing him.
