Colin Phillips
At the Start
A nursery sponsored by Adnams, and the way the horses lurched about during the race suggests some of them had been on the sponsor's produce.
But a race that goes some way towards questioning the argument that jocks need to carry whips to keep horses straight.
The first incident, over a furlong out when Murtagh's mount went left, Murtagh kept his whip in his left hand but the horse kept hanging into it, he went so far that it was lucky that nothing was brought down.
The head-on view of the finish would have been funny if it wasn't so scary, horses diving left and right, as someone on RUK said, like dodgem cars.
The winner (another Hannon 2-y-o) avoided all the mayhem by racing centre to stand-side.
Has anyone heard if there were any jocks given a holiday?
