Some really good racing to savour. As usual with the bigger meeting I have lots of trackers appearing, often in opposition with each other. Strictly that should mean “no bet” but, again as usual, I expect I will succumb to the temptation.

First up is Stowell in the 1:50. In the Queens Vase he ran to 3rd and was given a hold up ride by Frankie. The sectionals show he finished fastest of all over the last 2 furlongs.

In the 2:25 I’ve got three. Eldrickjones, Project Dante and Sam Maximus (who looks really thrown in at the deep end after impressing at Ponty in Class 2). The first two both suffered from failing to get a clear run at Ascot. Both vying for favourite at around 3/1 at the moment. I shouldn’t bet, but will probably favour Project Dante (post #36 in the Noted in Running thread).

3:35 Al Aasy is strong, but prohibitive odds on.

4:10 Baaeed was very impressive in a Class 4 here, but he needed to be since he is pitched in at a much higher class today and against some fair hot shots. Expected, though, at 6/5 fav which seems very skinny to me. Derab was another tracker, but NR.

4:45 Migration had a nightmare run recently at Salisbury (post #47 in the Noted in Running thread) and sits at 7/2 favourite in this tough handicap.

Away from Newmarket Poet of Life - Newbury 7:50 - looked useful in his debut run at Sandown.
