Last night whilst playing outside half for an opposing side (who were two players short when they arrieved) against my own club, I had 6 teeth totally removed or cracked in half in an innocent collision..........which was nice.

I attended Casualty last night and an emergency dental clinic today. At the dental clinic I was informed that there is a ceiling cost for any one course of treatment on the NHS. The receptionist thought it was £350 but couldn't confirm this. Can any of you?

As this was my 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th abd 9th tooth to fall victim of a rugby challenge during this calendar year, I have now decided that my career is finished. Does anyone want to buy two pairs of Mizuno size 9 boots?

Thanks

Mark
Seemingly taking it in humour but a bit pissed off as you can imagine.

Jesus Markee, that is seriously unlucky mate. No idea about the costs, I'm afraid, but can you not claim some of the costs on your clubs insurance? Do you not wear a gumshield by the way?

I believe that NHS patients currently pay 80% of the fee up to £378, although some patients, such as those on benefits, are exempt.

If you lived round here though you wouldn't be able to find an NHS dentist with spare capacity I'm told.

Thanks. I have since searched the net and found the info that you quote Brian. I am registered NHS with My Dentist for some years so there's no issue there. Another great reason to live in Wales!

Dave - Every registered player is insured by the WRU to play but it doesn't include for the cost of minor injuries and time off work if needed. We have a rep from a specialist company who insures some of the lads individually but I chose not to do so. I have private health care through work but I have a feeling dental work is not covered.
Never worn a gumshield - can't get on with them. I would probably be 6 teeth better off if I had as my teeth were smashed by the force of my upper and lower jaw coming together.

Bloody Hell, Mark. That is awful. One in a million accident I reckon. Hope you get it sorted soon, you must be in agony. I always wore a gumshield even though I didn't like them because my mom made sure I did!!!

MARKEE tough mate commiserations at your loss but come and join us........... a blow caused my loss....and I was the winner!!

I bet your singing that well known Xmas song
