Wins a brilliant and very fast paced Group 1 $500,000 Lightning Stakes over the 5f at Royal Flemington today.
David Hayes has indicated today he will be heading to the Ascot meeting in June.
I am not sure where he is next headed too, as he showed in 2009 he was a better handicapper, so it could be between the William Reid Stakes over 6f at Moonee Valley, or the Newmarket Handicap. Personally he would be better placed in the William Reid, because it is WFA, but the Newmarket Handicap has the better prizemoney and stronger reputation for a stallion prospect .
Cannonball who made his Australian debut, very one paced, and just not good enough. He has been up for a while though, so probably had reasons for his demise.
Starspangledbanner, the reigning Caulfield Guineas winner by Choisir, was unplaced. I believe he is now heading off to Aidan O'Brien, as he was purchased by Coolmore in the last 48 hours. He carries the Michael Tabor colours. Beautiful horse, think he will be much loved in Europe like his sire was 7 years ago.
