Nice run from Simply Ned at Kelso today Giving giving away lumps of weight to the field and winning rather comfortably, Eduard should be back soon too on the back of slamming Valdez by 20 lengths at Ayr at the end of last season

Duke of Navan looks a good prospect for novice chasing and a couple of novice hurdlers Mark Howard has in his top 40 in One jump ahead it should be a good winter at Greystoke.

He will indeed but took the step up to graded company well at Aintree, though it is possible a couple that day were over the top.

Chidswell looks a nice prospect for Langdale bloodstock and I shall be backing him to oblige on his hurdles debut at Ayr tomorrow.

Another Bill in the last at Ayr can hopefully go well
Owner has a good record first time out with fancied runners

Be interesting to see how Eduard fairs against Holywell in the Colin Parker tomorrow.

Wouldn't be the first time Jonjo has sent a good horse for this needing the run.

Albertas Run finished a long way last behind Tidal Bay but managed a good Second to Kauto Star at Kempton

Exotic Dancer was beaten a distance by Turpin Green the hacked up in the Paddy Power 5 days later.

I am no fan of Nicky Richards. I see him in the same mould as Tim Fitzgerald and Tim Easterby.......hardly a chip of the old man's block

Greystoke is one of the best places you could ever hope to train from but NR has produced no more than a handful of top class horses

His old man was in a different league with horse like Sea Pigeon, Highway Rambler, One Man, Lucius Hello Dandy Canadius, Titus Oats etc. to mention a few.

He had 3 of the best jockey in Ron Barry, Jonjo and Davy Goulding all riding for him at the same time.

However he regards Eduard one of his best ever so he could get off to a good start tomorrow with him.

The market has spoke for Eduard, 15/8 last night into 6/4
Justifiably so really given its a trip short of Holywell's best.

Not a Richards horse but there has been money this morning for the outsider of the field, Virnon in the bumper
50s into 25s :ninja:

I'll be disappointed if Eduard doesn't take care of these today.

I'm not convinced by him around Carlisle over the big obstacles tbh..yes he beat Mwaleshi but was entlitled to and made 2 mistakes and hard work of it until late on..before that again made a bad error which cost him the race. This is the hardest race he has faced over these Carlisle obstacles and i can see him coming up short. I think Many Clouds will take this.

A bit more experience under his belt, I'd hope he will jump cleaner today. This will be a good test as he will come under pressure. Many Clouds would be the one I fear most, rather than Holywell over this trip.

It's nuts really.......A horse who's won twice at the festival is fav for the Gold Cup fav against V a horse who has 8lbs Plus to find.

Never mind the fact you can back him at silly prices to win at the Festival yet he's 2/1 fav.

That said Jonjo's are in terrible form his last 26 runners have all lost and the 27th probably only won because he ran away with an apprentice on board.

Many Clouds did beat Holywell on this same card last season off levels so he must have a chance if Holywell is only there for a day out.

That said Eduard who's sure to be fairly fit with 5lbs in hand should really be able to take care of him.

Just hope Jonjo's not having a laugh and wants to win this.

Good race. Just at the business end the jumping of Eduard wasn't clean enough. Ran a sound race 1st up, ultimately the weight he was giving made the difference.
Good call EC.
Perfectly decent enough performance from Holywell.

Good spot Fonz!
Eduard never really jumped with any fluency & the winner did it well. He'll be competitive in the Hennessy if the ground's slow

Thanks
I went in quite hard on Eduard so it certainly saved the day and then some!
EC's analysis of the race was spot on but Eduard isn't one to lose faith with as I thought he did mighty well to get as close as he did considering he was having to be ridden away from quite a few of his fences because of some ropey jumping.

His jumping wasn't all that bad. Went through the top of one on the first circuit.
Certainly when the pace increased he got in close to a few. 3 out probably cost him as he lost a few lengths as he was a bit ponderous.
Despite that it was a decent performance.
