Night Nurse & Dramatist 1979 footage

Thanks for the comments Standaans Stewards Cup took me a long time to track down footage of but amazingly I struck lucky and got that and the 1979 Mackesson won by Man Alive at the same time. Because of my postings on youtube i do get a lot of other people requesting swaps of stuff they have and also used to get a fair bit off ebay till they tightened up what could be sold on there.
 
its a pity Bob Monkhouse wasn't into horse racing.

Bob owned a pro video recorder in the 1960's..cost thousands... and recorded a lot of his own shows and other stuff from about 1964 onwards..think they got auctioned off after he died.
 
I was at Aintree that day. I was at Liverpool University from 1976-1979 and stayed on during the Easter holidays to attend the whole of the 1978 and 1979 meetings. It felt like a decent crowd at the time but you can see how far the meeting has come since those days both in terms of attendance and facilities. It was a pretty ramshackle place back then and you can see that the state of the racing surface left a lot to be desired.

What annoys me is the BBC have all this footage and more alll the Chelt / Aintree festivals from the 70's and before yet NOBODY gets to see any of it. Bob Monkhouse was ahead of his time.

I agree that ground would not have been acceptable 20 yrs ago never mind today but glad the footage has given you some good memories that's why I put them on you tube.
