Intelligent ride just now from the very able Noel Fehily at Warwick aboard Joyrider.

Got the pace right, and applied pressure at the right times to get his only serious rival off the bridle. Crucially left enough in the tank to last home after the last.

I know it was a well backed odds on chance, but there is no disputing this Irish jockey's ability and intelligence in the saddle.

For the record Ruby's defeat in the 2.55 at Sandown was not his fault, the horse simply wasn't good enough.

Signs of an O'Neill revival. Meade and O'Neill are going to throw multiple spanners into the works at Cheltenham!!

Dunno about Meade but can see jonjo mugging some races.
Meade always brings an army but seldom delivers

Meade's record at the Festival is pretty abysmal isn't it?

One of the Betfair pundits was being very amusing abut the handicaps at the Festival this evening.

He said he's going to look for horses from two quiet stables where the inmates have been running badly, usually over the wrong trip and ground, and esp at horses that haven't been out for a few weeks. In fact he's going to be looking very closely at Jonjo's and Ferdy's horses

Correct, Meade's festival recrod is poor. However like Jonjo a lot of his string will go to the festival relatively fresh and in the novice division unexposed.

It is too early to make a judgement about all of Meade's, but Jonjo's yard either win well (Alberta's Run for instance) or still run stinkers (Crocodiles Rock).

All of this means betting in races where they have fancied or unexposed runners becomes very precarious indeed.

As it happens......
Noel rode Silver Jaro to win County Hurdle for Tom Hogan in 2008 at 50/1.
Tom in his postrace interview expressed his surprise that Noel had been picked up by a top UK stable as he considered Noel to be one of the best jockeys riding in Britain; steady, judge of pace and all around tactician.
As perceptive an analysis as you can ask for.
He was my single winner in an ew lucky 15 so I got treble the odds.
Happy days !
The juicier ones will be shared at DRF; give the weekend ticket added value !
Early Bird offer ends Friday 13th
