My son took on a paper round at the beginning of the year from a lad who had been sacked, rude/late/not turning up etc anyway i have always made sure he goes off on his round on time & that he is always polite, well he has just rushed in from doing his first round (he has two) waving a £20 saying that a customer has given it to him as a tip along with a note saying how lovely it was to see someone on a daily basis on time & that he always said hello, he even offered to help her up her driveway a few weeks back when he saw her unloading shopping from the car! the lady must of rung the office up after giving him the money as they have just rung to say that they are very proud to have such a lovely lad on their work force & that they would match his tip of £20 as a thankyou, Jamie had already gone back out to do his second round by then so he will have another surprise when he gets home :) the thing that made me smile the most was that he didn't understand why he had been given the tip even after I explained why his reply was " but I was just being normal" B)

Sorry for waffling but i am so chuffed :P

I'm beginning to regret this already  he's in his room now thumbing through prices of the next size amp for his guitar

You are right to be proud of him, Helen. Clearly, a credit to his parents! Good manners cost nothing, and it's nice to see it has been noted and appreciated.

P.S If they get that much ? I may start a round or two myself.......... ;)
Certainly worth it, Jamie has just come in with another £15 :o

scary amp scary amp scary amp

Well done Aldaniti and Jamie - most of the kids who come in my local shop couldn't spell manners if they had any!!!

Good to see a well brought up lad, full stop. I don't meet too many.
Teachers should start respecting the kids more then. ;)

What does that mean? I have nothing but total respect for all the pupils I teach. Respecting them does not make them behave better. A totally absurd comment and, if I can use a legal term, Bollocks.

Not at all but it is a tosspot comment that doesn't come across as funny at all. I don't like being told what to do in my job by someone who doesn't do it.

Stop fucking talking about your job then

Alright settle down

I certainly don't envy PDJ's job, not in todays society anyway, thankfully Jamie's school has not taken on this ridiculous new notion that involves paying children & rewarding them for bad behaviour, all school trips now are offered subject to the child's behaviour in the present & previous term at school, if they have been suspended they can't go full stop & must have a 90% attendance record, they also organise a trip once per year for those that have worked exceptionly well, that does not mean all the clever ones either if they have worked very hard regardless of the out come they get put forward for this trip, Jamie had a 99% attendance record sept 05 to july 06 & did superbly in his end of year report & was put foward, as a result he is one of eleven children going off to France for four days next April, Jamie was always interested in the D-Day battle as Bill his third grandad as he called him (wasn't actually his grandad it was my partners) got blown up (not killed) on Sword beach & used to be transfixed by Bill's shrapnel wounds :o so to find out that one of the planned days they are to spend at Mont St Michel & the landing beaches just about made his year! it means he can fulfil what Bill never got to do, he was due to go out to france in 2004 for for the celebrations but became seriously ill shortly before & was not allowed to go :( sadly I think that finished him off as he died a sort time later, he wanted to go & lay a wreath at the memorial on Sword beach where he was injured & his best friend was killed, when Jamie was told he would be going on this trip he told his teacher Bill's story & his teacher Mr Owens is going to arrange for Jamie to lay a wreath that day which I thought was very thoughtful of his teacher :)

If only they were all like that! Sounds like you do have a son to be proud of there, well done you for doing a fine job with him.

And no, not all teenagers are bad - mine's not (though he's not my son B) )
