Nth Spain & Sth France

Bought a plane ticket to Barcalona and rented a car for two weeks in September, the intention being just explore Northern Spain & South of France. Ha anybody spent some time in this region and have location advice. I would be partial to finding an idyllic hotel in a nice town by the sea for a week and exploring for a week.........

I'd definitely want to get to Andorra for at least a day.

Canet Plage is a nice little town to stay from memory. I used to stay there when I was younger. Perpignan is worth a visit too.

Andorra is fantastic - Perpignan is a hole! At least it was when I visited it a few times as a child. Narbonne is a pretty town though, & Avignon was quite nice from what I can remember when I was a child. Carcassone is a little way inland (only about half an hour form Perpignan though) but is absolutely stunning - it is the only entirely whole walled mediaeval city left in Europe. I cannot recommend a visit there highly enough. Bacares (on the coast just upland from Perpignan) is a lovely area but beware - they speak hardly any English there! It is a resort for the French mainly & I've been there many a time as my aunt & uncle have an apartment there.

The walled city of Girona an hour from Barcelona is definately worth a visit as is Sitges

My parents swear by Argiles. Don't have any specifics for you though.
