Going through some old stuff, I came across some 1977 Silver Jubilee Commemorative coins (x4) which belonged to my late mother in law.

Anyone know if they're of any value?

Also an old British Linen Bank pound note. Any ideas on that?

I'm heading off to the bank re some other currency and will enquire there too.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

There are several British Linen Bank £1 notes on ebay at present, in varying stages of auction - most currently sitting at a few quid. the one sitting at buy it now is £35 - though this may be wishful thinking on the seller's part.

The Silver Jubilee coins on sale vary in price from a couple of quid, to £30k. Worth doing some further investigation on those even if it's most likely they are of the few quid variety.

From what I can make out, it depends on whether you really have the silver version....

"The 1977 Silver Jubilee Crown is not actually silver and the Silver reference relates of the 25th Anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne. There is a slight confusion in that a number of actual silver 1977 Jubilee crowns were made. Most of the real examples would have come in boxes and are probably still in those boxes. The only way to tell the real silver examples is to test the silver, but easier is the thickness of the coin: the standard is 3.2mm thick, while the silver proof coin is 2.89mm thick."

I don't know how accurate that is but it sounds like a legit description to me. There were 37 odd million made, so not exactly rare and I would have thought the only ones that might make the sort of prices they're going for an Ebay would be flawed examples (example: head upside down, facing wrong way, etc....and none of those listed seem to state that, so I assume they're chancers/cheaters/scammers).

I found a suggestion that the real silver versions might go for £20-30.
