Absolutely stunning weather here the last few days...real touch of spring...hit 17 degrees in Galway yesterday! Hope it lasts the weekend.

Yes I agree a false case-sense of security as its dropping like a stone early next week with northerly winds, so its on with the woolies again and the C-H ..........

When do the clocks go forward?

I haven't seen any newborn lambs this year :(:(:<3:
Next weekend, I think, DO - just got used to proper time!

All our local farmers brought their ewes down from the hills before the snow, but I haven't seen any lambs yet (mind you, I've been confined to barracks with "proper" flu for the past week).

Can the weather delay birth-times, I wonder? The farmers among us will put me straight on that, if they'd be so kind?

I vividly remember last Lambourn Open Day - Good Friday as always

We awoke to gale force winds, a very sharp frost indeed, and halfway through the morning it started snowing. The field events were an endurance test, I can tell ye! The snow was driving across us almost horizontally (And being Lambourn, that's not all that was horizontal)

I certainly believe mares can - with an eleven month gestation they have a little more leeway! I very much doubt sheep can do so, as their gestation is only five months. though and if my cattle calving patterns are anything to go by, cattle don't seem to give a t*ss when they calve!!

Thanks, Songsheet.

I just wondered as I saw a documentary about kangaroos some years back. Apparently they can halt gestation and delay birthing times for 6 months or longer if conditions are not right.

Plenty of lambs here in Bucks guys. You must live in the Tundra. And as for Wales/Ireland,plenty of coverage on the right threads. The two games I enjoyed the most this season,my beloved Wales lose by two points and three points. The best two teams played at the Millenium Saturday and were a credit to their nations and the game
