I received a brochure promoting the Newmarket 2-Year-Old Racing Club. The scheme, run or fronted by Thommo, involves buying and selling 2-y-o's with the aim of making a profit for members. I, and all others invited to invest at £25,000 a share, are treated to a potted biography of "Channel 4's Derek Thompson".

For the benefit of those who, unlike me, choose to part with £25k I hope that there will be a little more accuracy in the detail of the horses bought than there is in Thommo's CV. He is described as being 48 years old. This conflicts a little with the assertion that he has been "presenting and commentating on television for over 30 years".

Thommo's true age is, in fact, 56.
