Just out of interest, why do people on forums post to say they've messaged people when the recipient will get a message notification anyway?

I'm not being critical of Maurice here as I see various people - usually the more elderly forumites tbf - do it on various forums.

Tbh, in some I suspect it's a form of attention seeking, craving that "ooh, what are they discussing?" reaction in others.

If so, it fails spectacularly with me as I couldn't begin to care who messages who or about what.

I'm pricing this one up (prices for entertainment value only - they're not available! ) as....
