Olympia 2010

Looks fab, hope you had a great time. My friend was competing in the Forces' jumping on Wednesday. It always looks a fantastic atmosphere.

Looking at some of your other piccies,is that Garstang of Johnny Baldings in the blinkers at Lingers?

Was lucky enough to go to Hickstead myself a couple of times this year as I live down the road in Brighton, really enjoyed it and look forward to going back in the summer when hopefully the weather will be kind and enable us to get a few reasonable piccies.

Not so easy at the moment with the weather as it is.

Yup been to Hickstead last two years - esp as this year was 50th anniversary. Its an amazing area - not done justice on the tv.

If I haven't moved away next year, I'm def going. I went about 10 years ago, and Olympia tonight convinced me to See More Shows in 2011. Absolutely packed to the rafters, too, in spite of the gross weather. Fabulous jumping, too - some gorgeous, very well-behaved animals, and Robert Smith as usual letting his and himself down by always going too bloody fast at something. Old Whitaker reduced to tearing-up on winning - marvellous! Although that Bacofoil H&M winner's rug made his horse look like it was in a lifesaving blanket!

Lady behind me yesterday (alhtough annoying the heck outta me by chatting all flaming night!) told her friend it took them 8 1/2 hrs to get down from Manchester.

Sounded like her darling little son is a budding rider (it was all Andrew does this Andrew does that, his trainer says this blah blah - I nearly turned round and said if he is so damn good why isnt he riding at the show?!) Didnt mean to eavesdrop but she was determined to make sure everyone around knew that she knews "everyone" in showjumping.....

 But apart from that you had a good time:p Nice pics BTW.

Can beleive the 8 and 1/2 hour trip though. One of my drivers took 10 and a half to Basildon from Manchester Friday!!!!!!!

One of your drivers? I say, was that Jenkins with the Bentley, or Smithers with the Rolls, old boy?

Jeez, I know what you mean, Ballydoyle. Showjumping and eventing seem to bring out the worst types, far more than racing ever does, including Neshnul Hunt types. Dreadful droning bores who name-drop relentlessly throughout every round. I suppose one could ask them vair, vair politely to shut the *&$% up or announce loudly that you so enjoyed your last driving session with Philip, and that Zara is such a little poppet. A friend of my mother's did something similar within earshot of a ghastly name-dropper, who soon came buzzing over, all agog to rub shoulders with someone they thought 'worth' knowing. The chum kept up the pretence, having a great joke, leaving with, "Well, I must fly, but I'll ask the prince to give you a call next time he's in the city." She nearly choked in ecstasy.
