Just been looking to see whether sitting on the sidelines at this stage of the season has been the right choice or not after Sad Saturday (previous blog).

Managed to sign off on 24/9 in the What Are You Backing Today thread with a winner in New Pursuit (post seemed to escape notice) and have had only three other bets since. Happy enough with them in terms of “normal” expectations.

Looking at all the other trackers that have come up and which I would have probably considered I think it’s fair to say that the end result would have been well under expectation, despite a decent priced winner in the mix. So happy to be on the sidelines atm with just an occasional bet.

That said, I am getting impatient to get going with the jumpers.

I usually sit out or reduce stakes at the start/finish of each season which seems to pay off for me. I also tread carefully on bank holidays.

Still a couple of big races still to come but then a rest.as you say end of flat/start of jumps.i might hibernate.
