There’s a lot to watch today, but little to back.

Ahoy Senor or Bravemansgame in the Charlie Hall - what a disgrace that there’s only five runners - should be good and Eldorado Allen is no slouch either. If it’s a true race it should sort out the pecking order. If I do bet one of the big two I’ll cover with EA.

Can Goshen make it as a chaser? Maybe today will give a good clue because the opposition isn’t too bad.

I’m interested to see how Prairie Wolf goes at Wetherby upped in trip after a reasonable hurdle debut. Might even have a small interest if money comes.

The Sporting John race at Wetherby looks one to sort a few things out and it’s Threeunderthroughfive that I’ll be watching in particular, but not really a betting race.

The 2:05 at Ascot has a number of interesting runners in it and it’s probably a race I’ll have to watch a few times.

I didn’t bet in the end, although I thought Bravemansgame really looked good in the prelims. Perhaps if I thought Ahoy Senor was going to jump right like he did I’d have thought again, but I never expected him to disappear without trace. Lucinda Russell said she wanted to see from this race if he was a Gold Cup horse - well, if he is, she’s got an awful lot of work to do.

Seems like it’s back to the drawing board with Goshen who jumped ok , but just faded away. Must be a difficult horse to train, but I can’t really understand the way Gary Moore has treated him. He’ll know more than me, though, so there must have been good reasons. He did cost me house and furniture on that fateful day and it doesn’t look as though I'm going to get it back any time soon. It looked as though Samarrive was going to take the race before he fell a couple out and there’s more to come from him.

Prairie Wolf wasn’t really worth watching let alone backing so it was as well my money stayed in my pocket. In fact the only bets I had all day were Hacker Des Places at Ascot, second at 17/2…..

…..and Threeunderfive who looked good for a bit towards the second to last only to be left standing by the very easy winner Proschema - good one, I reckon - and Thomas Darby who had a decent race.

Quite a lot to reflect on, though, and will come back on those later.

On reflection, having watched through the races again there’s nothing much to report beyond varying degrees of rubbish :).
