Now I know I've asked how to to do this stuff (that is make your own videos) and it's beyond me (not IT savvy enough) but this is decent (I still think I could do better if I knew how to get the images)

I'm challenging you THers out there to pick a song that's right for you and have a go.

I'm also challenging Gareth and Betsmate (or anyone who who knows how to) to explain to us who how we do this?

Love the singer, love the song and the images fit it perfectly.

Haven't a clue how to respond to the challenge though, Warbler.
 
Get some video editing software. Anything from Windows Movie maker to Adobe Premiere or anything in between.

Rip the song to WAV or MP3 or whatever and add it as the audio track.

Add the pictures at the appropriate place on another track.

If you want to add to some clever fade effects between the images, consider placing them on multiple tracks and then adding transitions between the two.

Encode it as an MP4 or AVI or something and upload it to Youtube.

Simples.

Brilliant vids to fit the songs in both cases. Dear old Tom Waits - mad as a box of frogs, but very inventive!
