Tomorrow, all being well, we will only have to endure another 731 days, or two years of the Neocon regime as leaders of the USA. It will hopefully the last we have to listen to the exceptional idiocy of George W. Bush. I believe in America, I have lived there and have many friends there. I will be happy for them when this group of people are not leading them. I feel cheated that 8 years of my life has coincided with this regime.

What makes you think the new government will be better?

If enough citizens can vote in this administration, they are quite capable of voting in worse.

I see the NeoCons homophobic, drug and alcohol hating, Jesus loving, family man, evangelist cheer leader turned out to be a crack smoking homsexual after all.

As Alanis Morisette may have put it.......

The devil you don't know perhaps, Paul. :brows:

The "DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT." is a quote from the distant past from either a TV or Radio programme. It's so long ago I can't remember the programme and it's likely to have been before your time but Brian or someone else of my age-group might remember.

How about the Communist Party of the United States?

And before any of you namby pamby left-wing marxist theorists get excited, they describe themselves as militant and a fighting organisation.

Whatever the faults of the current western governments they pale into insignificance when considered simply against the prospect of any government who would replace the democratic process with one that ensured they could not be removed.

If only the anti-bush lobby could experience real oppression. I bet their tunes would change.

AC is your belief in America based on trust or is there something more tangible you can get hold off ?

"DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT."

I've just Googled this and it seems the original instance may have been in an American radio commercial but the phrase, delivered in a booming hollow voice, appeared in at least two Tom & Jerry films!!!! :D

This Google is a serious tool.

Like with redistricting and gerrymandering ? Let alone hanging chads and an election where won man one and the other was elected .

I'd be concerned if they didn't :D

What are 'hanging chads'? Are they like dangling participles?
A partial hole punch, and one that is to be discounted if appearing to leave an indentation next to the name Gore, in Florida

So who is worse, Colin?
The answer to your question lies at 33/1

Hillary Clinton 11/8
John McCain 5
Mark Warner 7
George Allen 8
Barack Obama 10
Al Gore 10
John Edwards 10
Condoleezza Rice 12
Rudolph Giuliani 12
Mitch Romney 18
Evan Bayh 18
Bill Richardson 22
Bill Frist 22
Joseph Biden 25
Tom Ridge 28
George Pataki 28
Rick Santorum 33
Tom Vilsack 33
John Kerry 33
Tom Daschle 33
Jeb Bush 33
Chuck Hage 40
Arnold Schwarzenegger 50

From Oddschecker

I reckon its a half decent book to be honest given the front 9 in the market all look opposable, its just that I can't decide with whom. Of the fancied runners, I'd probably side with Edwards at 10's. The Democrats won't win with a Northerner, and a televisual Southerner who wasn't really damaged by the Kerry campaign looks the best bet. Gore's prominance in the betting is interesting.

729 to to go ya lame duck bastard!

There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow.
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye
And it looks like it's climbing clear up to the sky.

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

All the cattle are standin' like statues
All the cattle are standin' like statues
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by
But a little brown mav'rick is winkin' her eye

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

Go Warbler!

And whoever imagines we don't have gerrrymandering here on a massive scale, to the extent we no longer have a democracy in anything but name, is living in ....
...well I'd better be circumspect for a change

I thought the lines were:

"The grass is as high as an elephant's arse
And it looks like it's climbin' clear up to the pass... "

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Wenn getanzt wird will ich führen
auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren
Ich zeige euch wie es richtig geht
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen
Musik kommt aus dem Weißen Haus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nützen
und werde euch vor Fehltritt schützen
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss
weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muss
Wir bilden einen lieben Reigen
Ich werde euch die Richtung zeigen
Nach Afrika kommt Santa Claus
und vor Paris steht Micky Maus

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song

We're all living in Amerika
Amerika ist wunderbar
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

We're all living in Amerika
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in Amerika
Amerika, Amerika

Warbler, how many times must I tell you not to sniff that stuff on an empty stomach? Now go and have a nice big cheese sarnie, and come back later...

Look, leave that sort of thing to us pensioners, will you? We're expected to be forgetful and dotty, not you young men!
