Looks a busy days racing at Sandown and Haydock with plenty of interesting races....

Mighty Yar for Lady Cecil is a real contender in the Old Newton Cup, after a respectable comeback run last Saturday at Newmarket.

This horse can often be best fresh as when winning first time out in 2012 and 2013, and most notably beat the favourite for this Saturdays Lancashire Oaks, Miss Marjurie last summer, with Amralah back in third.

I think this form has worked out well and 16-1 is a big price for Mighty Yar. Gd-Fm ground should be right up Might Yar's street too.
Peter Chapple Hyams horse is also interesting but quite hard to predict if he will be on a going day, imo.

Backed Waady in the Coral Charge at Sandown. Looks a progressive 3yo, the form of his run behind Adaay at Newbury has worked out (Waady disadvantaged from being away from the action that day) and he loves Sandown.
With Mecca's Angel being a likely NR on account of the ground (will they risk him on GF for a Group 3 when they wouldn't in the King's Stand?) and Medicean Man being a bit of an Ascot specialist I think 6/1 about Gosden's colt is quite tidy.

i think Adaay will win July Cup Euro..flopped at Ascot...but that run at Haydock is top notch...Waady was v impressive at sandown

Adaay isn't entered for the July Cup EC1, is there a supplementary stage ?

I've taken 14s about Gabrial's Kaka in the Challenge. He's been a bit of a cliff horse for me but has dropped to 95, 8lbs less than when he was 4th in this last year. He still retains most of his ability judging by his run two starts back at Chester when he ran on well from a bad draw.

A shame Mighty Yar is a non runner, as it had a major chance. I'll probably just have a saver and take a chance on Farquhar now.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Basil Berry (who has beaten Major Jack and was a good 7th in the Wokingham) gets on in the 5:10 at Haydock....

The only thing denting my confidence is he may race against Tournament, who I think could be a decent horse, but Tournament is also entered in the 2:35 at Sandown in a more valuable race, I.e. doubly entered, so I may end up backing both of them yet, if they go separate ways! (Yes please!)

Good luck tomorrow.

Katawi (2.00 S) looked a transformed filly dropped back to a strongly run 5f latest, and absolutely skittled a decent field.
Up in class today, but there appeared no fluke about her win and her gp1/gp2 entries suggest her trainer's hardly tilting at windmills.
16/1 is just too big.

Haven't been doing much over the last few weeks as I find it hard to sit at a laptop when the sun is shining but I've spotted one today I like the look of at a price.

Dutch Masterpiece At around 50/1 for the Coral Charge I can't help but feel I've missed something. His record over 5f on good ground reads 1,1,1 including a Grp 3 win at the Curragh.Since that win all his races have had the word soft in the description.Visor on for the first time and drawn 1, I can't help but feel he should run a big race at what seemingly is a huge price.

As you like.

Tom Segal is sweet on Tournament today aswell...still waiting to hear whether he runs at Sandown or Haydock though.

Couldn't split Tournament and Basil Berry in the last but have gone for the latter Basil Berry as he is a bigger price. It would be a good day for Souza and me if he could do it. Can't see Basil out the places myself. I wish Tournament had gone to Sandown really. My heart has ruled my head on this occasion.

Trouble in loading into the stalls too, Col. Looked uncomfortable to me in some way, so ran creditably to finish fifth, imo. Maybe that Wokingham race has taken a bit of recovering from. If he stays healthy i'm confident there is another win or two in him!
