Our Romeo (Jack Russell - Parsons) tore the nail sheath and his toe became infected, we thought, because it became swollen. Didn’t get any better with treatment so eventually had a biopsy and it was not good. He had to have his toe off and we are living in hope that it hasn’t spread elsewhere. If Winnie’s lump is not too small your vet should be able to do a needle biopsy to set your mind at rest.
