A poll this week showed that 'Angels' was the most popular modern song at funerals. A few of us have had bereavements in the last few months and I hope none of the others will feel offended by this (Col - feel free to delete if necessary) but I couldn't help thinking that a few of us on here might have appropriate songs. For myself, given the name of the 'band' who made the first version I suppose I'd go with 'Sugar Sugar'. Luke, MarkEE and Jon could go together with 'Angels' (shame we don't have a Matt!).
The following are a few suggestions - not meant to cause offence although some may have tongue in cheek.

Brian - Fly Me To The Moon (because I've been everywhere else).
Ardross - Little Old Wine Drinker Me
Gearoid - Young Girl
an capall - A Horse With No Name
PDJ/Maurice - To Sir With Love or Be True To Your School
tetley - Tea For Two
Shadow Leader - I Am (on) A Rock
Final Furlong - Seven Rooms Of Gloom
Merlin & Cardiffian - He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother

Lots of candidates for 'Paranoid' and 'You Better You Better You Bet'.

I quite fancy '(Old) Bat Outta Hell' myself! :D Especially if the old pine box can be zoomed into the crem on a 'Hawg'!

Some of us who attended Alan Morgan's funeral found it dificult to keep a straight face (I admit to laughing out loud) when the coffin entered to the sound of Mac Davis singing "Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble (when you're perfect in every way)".

It was even harder as the coffin slowly disappeared behind the curtains while Freddie Mercury belted out "Don't Stop Me Now".

I had to organise a funeral only 10 days ago. It was classical music it and out. I went to the ladies house and found her own CDs and played them relentlessly in my car until I found the right pieces. It was then the hymns, All Things Bright and Beautiful and Jerusalem.

On a serious note, it is really important to make sure your loved ones know your preferences for music etc, and indeed whether you want to be buried or cremated.

I have always been faily good at organising things, but I hope I do not have to do another funeral, as it was extremely hard going making decisions for someone else and I just hope and pray she approved. :brows:

Reminds me of a funeral I went to some 12 or 15 years ago when this sort of thing was in its infancy. We were all sitting there when suddenly this Glenn Miller music blasted out as the speakers were set too high. Cue two hundred people jumping off their seats in unison, nearly fifty heart attacks and fifty more funerals.
