Flu jabs have changed in that they are now given boosters every six months rather than once a year as previously. So it can mess things up hugely when it comes to planning races if your new horse comes in with its vaccinations out of sync with the rest of the yard. Traditionally all horses (unless they were running over the Christmas period) had their booster on Christmas Eve as the staff got time off and horses invariably need a couple of quiet days after they have had one.
