Top class performance today, I was thinking he was too short in the betting but after seeing this I think this one is a 130 horse.

Lets see how the form works.

Most pundits are fielding against him today because of his penalty and the trip. But he has a stone in hand on this field and even with the trip worry he should win. He`s drifted to 2.74 on the machine. If he get close to 2/1 I might tuck in.

I`m not happy about the Gordon Richards race being after CH4`s coverage has ended. Why didn`t they have it on at 2.05 instead of another yawnfest of a handicap hurdle?

I think Paco Boy is a class animal, but he's definitely better over 7. His class might see him through against this lot here but over a stiff mile, I'd be very wary. I did think Lovelace was a cracking each-way bet at 12/1 but now there are only 7 runners, it's less appealing.

Agree about the Gordon Richards, surely a flat Group race takes priority over a jumps handicap, especially now the jumps has finished.

one of those interesting ones..PB looks just about the best on ratings even over the mile...but his mile rating is gained when going backwards rather than winning...so is it as valid a rating earned in that way??

i've had 50p each on Lovelace & Stotfold, favour stotfold to win it

Very professional, wouldn't back him in a Group One against proper milers but he's some horse.

I asked for 3.5 in running and go it I was well please thought he mad easy work of them, but he has been in the far East so not shore he can come on but others can.

Its long been stated that 7f is a "specialist" trip, and often wouldnt disagree, but is this dominating the thinking (or prejudice) surrounding PB a little too much?

I`ve quoted this and brought it over from the Tarten Bearer thread (I think it`s my fault that the Lockinge started to be discussed there).
Timeform rate PB 129 (a couple of pounds too high imo) and because he`ll probably run two or three pounds below that over a mile it might make it hard to win a Group 1 over that trip. Depends on the strength of the other horses of course. Ramonti won a slew of Group 1s over a mile despite being a 125(ish) animal.

Thanks Aidan - will have been off the track 11 months by then, would have liked to have seen him out early - hopefully Gladiatrousers and Paco Boy make the market for him :)

I do wonder whether this horse is underrated due to his connections.

His Prix de la Foret performance was spectacular and had he not failed to get a clear run he would have been much closer to Goldikova in the Moulin .

Wonder why they haven't thought about dropping him back to 6f - he has loads of toe .

Paco Boy favourite for Lockinge;

Coral: 9-4 Paco Boy, 11-4 Gladiatorus, 5-1 Aqlaam, 14-1 Pressing, Twice Over, 16-1 Tariq, Thewayyouare, Major Cadeaux, 20-1 Dream Eater, Expresso Star

He is now 5-4 ! Gladiatorus seems to have been taken out - I hope he hasn't failed to thrive since joining Godolphin
