Paddy Power Win Appeal in Newham

"Paddy Power makes a positive contribution to local communities in which it operates".

Is there a head-in-hands smiley icon ?

This goes beyond the usual corporate spin; it's an insult to the intelligence.

Employ three tellers and a manager from the local community, and you can dress it up as a "positive contribution".

The more abstract argument is that Paddy Power is giving local residents an opportunity to alleviate their boredom.

They're still patently talking bollocks though.

Are we not all being a bit hypocritical here? Given the fact that I would say 90% of people on this forum embrace gambling with open arms (Including myself of course)who are we to deny people possibley less fortunate than us the same hobby. After all nobody forces anybody to do it.

Nobody -- certainly not me anyway -- is denying anyone the right to strike bets. It's a free society.
If there's anybody being hypocritical it is PaddyPower with their claims of being of contributory benefit to the community. That's the issue which seems to have escaped you.

It hasn't escaped me. Its obviousley corporate and Possibley tongue in cheek drivel from PP. But these sort of articles are just there to get peoples backs up about the working class and people on benefits in poorer areas spending so called our money down the bookmakers.
