Hearing Mr Paul Green owner of Carvill's Hill, Hors la Loi, Unsinkable Boxer has passed away. I remember he had a few good horses with Martin Pipe notably Carvill's and then went on to win the Champion Hurdle with Hors la Loi when trained by James Fanshawe.
Was a big fan of Unsinkable Boxer (hence the username) who worked his way up the ranks to winning the Pertemps hurdle at Cheltenham and absolutely hacking up. There is an anecdote in AP's autobiography about before the Pertemps and AP asking Martin Pipe how he should ride the horse. The answer was "It doesn't matter this is the biggest certainty ever to set foot on Cheltenham racecourse".
Thanks for the memories Mr Green. RIP.
