Not had much experience of PP disputes so wondered if anyone could offer any advice,
I am the seller!

Buyer purchases shelving from me which is listed as budget shelving,
It arrives & he decides it is not up to what he wants to use it for, he wanted to use it as warehouse shelving  listing also states that it is used as garage/home office etc

He has paid £51 inc delivery for FIVE bays of these units

Leaves it a month before deciding to dispute claim, he is claiming that it is not as described
I have now offered a full refund once items have been returned,

He says it is up to me to pay for the return of the item, is this right?

Since when does it become the responsibility of the seller for the lack of common sense the buyer has?

If it wasn't damaged when it arrived than I don't think he has a leg to stand on.
Where the specs of the item online ?

Yes, what the units were made of, 50kg loading etc, listed as budget, also photo of item & even says 5mm mdf shelves, no damage on arrival, we have sold these previously & not had a neg feedback for them, most people realise you get what you pay for!

Gone all through PP dispute & all it says that PP will issue chap with £51 refund once I receive items back, so I assume that he has to pay to send them back to me, can't see it worth his while, each bay weighs 15kg it would nearly cost him the refund paying couriers!

If you are selling as a business then he's outside the DSR period so he can't return them under that, or for any other reason.
If it was a private sale then tough basically.
However if he starts a dispute with paypal he will win if he returns them, but he will have to pay return postage.

Cheers, I've just received the paypal email about the dispute, I have offered him a full refund the same as I did before he threatened me with it! the email confirms he will get the refund as soon as he provides tracking info on items returned, but it also says the buyer must bear the cost of returning the items,

So at the end of the day he acheived nothing by opening the dispute!

He has left me neg feedback now which I already knew he'd do regardless of what I offered him, just have to accept there are people out there who's shoes size is higher than their IQ!

I think you can also dispute his negative feedback too - have a read of your rules. Did you sell thry ebay? I had trouble like this with a nutter once and ebay made him withdraw neg feedback.

Paypal or ebay might protect you as you have done nothing wrong.
