Somethings really have a way of putting your own problems into perspective. Last night an 18 year old girl was killed in a car crash not too far from where I live. The parents of this girl only last week buried their other daughter (15 year old) who died from cancer...

I dont know the family at all but how on earth would you go on with life after something like that? RIP to both the young girls and thoughts go to their parents and friends.

It certainly does make your own problems seem trivial in comparison. I couldn't begin to think how these poor people must be feeling right now.

One of my closest friends - sort of my 'spiritual mother' who is now in her late 70s - lost two of her four sons in the 80s. One died of cancer and the other was murdered in New York. She's never got over it at all. In fact she's planning to move from Ibiza in the next year or so to Costa Rica where the two remaining both live, which is v sad for me as it means I'll never see her again. I lived with them all for a while in the 70s, in Ibiza, where she ran a school.

I don't have children but I've know a few people who have lost them - the grief is unimaginable

That really is heartbreaking news.
To lose one child must be terrible, but to lose two within a couple of weeks of each other in different circumstances is incredibly cruel.

It would make you wonder how people get upset over trivial things. Thats devastating.
