can somebody tell me how a horse has to qualify for the pertemps at chletenham, do they just need to run in a qualifier or have to place in one?

They have to at least run. They changed the rules a couple of years ago when over half a huge field was withdrawn for spurious reasons on the morning of the race. I'm not sure if they have since changed it to finishing in the top 10 or something of that nature.

In order to qualify you have to have at least run in a qualifier, however horses which win or place in a qualifier will hold preference in the final, remaining places are made up as per handicapping terms.

To qualify to enter the final a horse has to have either:

1. Started in any Pertemps Qualifier run this season
2. Been declared to run in a Qualifier but was ballotted out
3. Been declared to run in a Qualifier that was subsequently abandoned.
